The dearest Ann Janvier invited me to direct a tournament at Hayes Barton Place in Raleigh today. We had a lovely group of 36 woman and one man who came to enjoy a very friendly tournament. The word tournament should not throw anyone off. It was not high pressure. Each round of play the participants played three games in an hour.

We started the day with coffee and a chance to say hi to new and old friends. Then everyone sat down to play two rounds. Everyone was kind and courteous as most people had not played in a tournament before.

We broke for a nice lunch provided by Golden Harmony. I was glad to get to catch up with my friends. After lunch one more round and I tallied the scores.

Elizabeth Hogan was the big winner. It was her first tournament and she won a big prize from Bailey’s Fine Jewelry. Second Place went to Barbara Bowser who also won a Bailey’s prize. Third was a tie Anna Suttle and Rebecca Hancock. Allison Smith and Mandi McMillian rounded out the prize winners and took home gifts from Charlotte’s.

It was a nice day with a mix of residents of Hayes Barton Place and friends who came to play. What a wonderful place to live in your retirement years. Thanks for always welcoming me with smiles.
