My Garden Failure

Thank goodness I had a wedding this year. Thanks to that diversion I hardly planted a thing in my garden. Thanks to a number of blights last year Russ has been trying to sterilize the soil in a number of beds. That means they stay covered by plastic for two years in the hope of killing what ails it. With only a few beds available I decided to plant just some peppers and two cherry tomatoes and one basil plant.

All this was done before I knew that our drought would not let up. I was foolishly hopeful. Between the soil blight and the tremendous lack of rain my garden has been a bitter failure. One tomato is gone, the other is pitiful. The peppers have produced barely three fruits from 12 plants.

Russ did some weeding today and came back to announce he is allergic to something in garden. It is hard to imagine what it could be since there is so little growing. I am thankful that I only have a few more weeks to look at this disappointment. Nonetheless I still am praying for rain to overcome this horrible drought.
