No Wedding Excuses
Posted: June 29, 2026 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentFor months if there was something I didn’t want to do I had a built in excuse, “My daughter is getting married in June.” No matter how big or how small a task was, once I played the wedding card everyone forgave me for bowing out.

It was a great excuse, but that was purely what it was. I had very few jobs to do at this wedding as Carter and Claire did everything, including the flowers. So now that the wedding has come and gone and I have even had a post wedding vacation, to recover from the perfect weekend I enjoyed as if I were an honored guest and a not a mother of the bride. It’s back to real life.
The fourth of July Holiday puts a hold on mah Jongg classes, but I still have a long list of things I said I would do after the wedding. So today I wrote tournament rules for a Tournament I am director of at the coral Bay club the first Friday in August. Bailey’s fine Jewelry is sponsoring the tournament and so they needed the rules so they can print everything out with Bailey’s logo. The prizes will be over the top. If you ever wanted to play in a fun tournament and maybe win some jewelry this is the one to join. Members call the Coral Bay club. Non-members I think can get on the wait list, or get a member to bring you as a guest.
I also had to work on contracts for resorts I will be teaching at in 2027. Looks like I am only going to need resort wear next year. No wedding clothes needed.
I need to work on a big writing project that I have been putting off all year. No more excuses. I need to set some daily writing goals and stick to them. Instead of doing that I planned a party for when I will be back in Maine in August. Planning a party will always take precedent to writing. I’ve invited the guests, now to the menu. How long can I drag that out?
