Do You Recognize Yourself?
Posted: April 29, 2026 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentI was out today driving behind a person I know is a lawyer. This person did not stop, or even tap the breaks at the first stop sign. OK. No one was coming the other two ways. I gave it a pass. Then a second stop sign. No stopping, slowing or breaking and no turn signal.

This lack of stop was a little more alarming as cars were coming at the person. I hung back a little not wanting to be collateral damage for their reckless driving. Then a third stop sign blown through, without a tap of the breaks and no turn signal.
At this point it was not just lazy driving, but reckless driving, by a person who is trained to know the law. One more left turn without a signal and that was as far as I had to follow this driver.
The arrogance of thinking the rules don’t apply to you and the fact that a large car might protect you made me furious. But since this known lawyer is also litigious I was not going to bring all these problems to their attention. I know what kind of driver this person is now and I will do my best to steer clear.
The rules of the road are laws and your actions are also indicative of how courteous a person you might be. Yes, you know where you are going and may not think you need to let anyone else know your intentions to turn left or right, but turn signals come free on cars for a reason. And yes, right on red is an option, but stop signs still require you to stop before turning right. No break lights is a fairly good indicator that there was not even the thought of stopping.
Don’t be an asshole. If you even think you are this lawyer, that is enough evidence that you need to learn to be a safer driver.
