Walker’s Day in Owl’s Head
Posted: August 27, 2026 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentThis is starting to be a fun tradition- having Walker’s friends for lunch in Owl’s head. I decided to have it the day that Nancy And Karen arrive for their three day visit so that they don’t have to waste any time in Maine helping me prepare for a party. Instead Dinah, who was coming over on the Vinalhaven ferry, came early and she acted as a superior sous chef.

I ordered the perfect cake for the Walker’s girls, a blue berry and lemonade cake. It was perfect because it was purple and yellow our school colors. I picked it up from the Atlantic Bakery on my way to get Dinah at the Ferry.
With Dinah we got everything ready day in record time and had time to sit on the deck and watch the boats go by as we caught up. Right at noon Julie and Warren showed up with lemonade and Julie’s decadent vegan brownies. We could have skipped the lunch and just had desserts which would have been the most girl’s school thing to do.

Nancy and Karen were not far behind. And we all sat down for a fun lunch outside in the sunshine. As it always happens it goes too fast and before we knew it it was time for Dinah to get back to the Ferry and Warren took her and Julie went home to Durham, ME.

Karen and Nancy and I started a massive Monopoly Deal Tournament. We played at least 15 games out on the deck and then broke to eat leftovers for dinner. Then resumed the tournament in the living room after dinner. We only stopped to watch the lunar eclipse which was very exciting as the moon seemed so large and close to us.
We had rearranged the furniture for the game and left it that way assuming we will continue this play throughout the weekend. Nothing better than having Walker’s in the house.
