A Sad Day to Say Goodbye to Dolly
Posted: August 25, 2026 Filed under: Uncategorized 2 CommentsI awoke to the news from our house sitter and neighbors that sometime last night a car ran hard enough into our mailbox to destroy it as well as pull off a large chunk of white bumper and light kit from the car or truck. It appears that the relatively newer white vehicle might be a Toyota. No note or report was made my the offending driver. If you know of anyone in the Hope Valley area who was out last night and is now missing a good chunk of bumper please let them know they are sought after to make amends.

After than news I went on to have a fun day with my friend Warren who took me to Belfast for the day while Russ stayed home and worked with his colleague Dave who came in for two days of Russ camp.

I thought the bad news of the day was behind me until I got home and discovered that the national treasure Dolly Parton had passed away. NOOOOOO. How can that be? If god had to take an 80 year old, there was a much more deserving candidate than Dolly.

It is hard to imagine a world without the bright sunshine of Dolly. There was no better person on earth. I am profoundly sad that she no longer walks the earth. I imagine my friend Holley Broughton, who was the other most sparkly woman on earth, who left us last year is welcoming Dolly to Heaven and the glitter club that Holley started up there. My only consolation is the thought that Holley and Dolly are watching over us and finding ways to spread cheer together.
I am sorry that happened to your property. It’s frustrating and a hassle to get a new one. Accidents happen, but to not do the right thing and leave a note to make amends is just so disappointing. I like things to be right and fair and this is neither. I’m writing just to commiserate since I can’t even search for the offender’s car since I don’t leave near you anymore.
Thanks for commiserating with me!
