Carter and Claire – the Wedding
Posted: June 21, 2026 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentThe love was overwhelming at the wedding of Carter and Claire yesterday. It was a perfect day filled with sweet sentiments, happy families, lots of laughing, loving friends, yummy food and drinks and pure joy. Carter and Claire had planned and made everything from the boutonnières and bouquets for each guest to the personalized oyster shells decorated with an imagine that was special to each guest that served as the place card.

Carter and Claire started with photos at four and then the families joined in. Guests all gathered under the big tree outside the Norembega. Around five we all walked down the hill to the gazebo and each grabbed a drink before assembling on the lawn to watch the ceremony.

Carter’s best college friend Estelle and Claire’s best high school friend Shay were the officiants. They did a superb job and clearly portrayed the love that Claire and Carter have for each other. The vows that the girls made to each other were a dear representation of what they have meant to each other in the last four years and promise to be for the rest of their years. I was thankful for the “happy tears” hanky I had in my bag.

Carter and Claire had asked us not to have our phones out at the ceremony so everyone was fully present to witness their promises. I can hardly wait to get to watch the video and see the photos of the day so I can relive every minute.

After the ceremony we went to the terrace and had a cocktails with food that was beyond spectacular. An oyster farmer was there shucking oysters he had harvested that morning. We had lobster rolls, tomatoes and mozzarella bruschetta, deviled eggs, tuna crudo and gazpacho. The beauty of a small wedding is by the time we got to cocktails we all knew each other. The love that Carter and Claire had for each other translated to a love all the guests had for each other.

As if we were not full enough from the cocktail fare, we then went into dinner. The flowers and candles with the sweet menus Carter had printed, the wicker chargers and blue and white striped napkins all echoed the blue and green theme in the girl’s dresses. We had a watercress salad with grilled peaches and goat cheese. Then a choice of mushroom ravioli or poached lobster, with avocado on a potato cake. The main course was a choice of steak or halibut with crab and a third vegetarian polenta. Finally Maine blueberry pie and key lime pie finished up the dinner.

Dwayne, Claire’s father, gave his toast during the first course. A sweet tribute about the number of daughters he added to his life, not just his Claire, but a sister-in-law who was more like a daughter, then Claire, then his son Alex’s sweet wife Lilla, followed by Rob’s darling Andrea, and then came Carter. He told how on Carter’s first visit to their house she helped him with the retiring of the house, which told him everything about her and set her in good steed with him.

I gave the final toast of the wedding. Carter in her wedding management plan had allotted me five minutes. I did my best to meet her request, but in the end I failed. At some future point I will share the whole toast. I gave tribute to each person at the wedding, and how they played into the lives of Carter and Claire, before imparting my advice and love to them.

The wedding continued with a dance party in our PJ’s. I joined the party for three songs, ending most appropriately on Pink Pony Girl. The young people stayed up until the very late hours of the morning.
It was exactly the celebration the girls wanted with exactly the people they wanted. I can not be happier for them and loved every minute.
