Friends in Maine Day

One of the joys about being in Maine is getting together with friends. Every year I get to see one of my favorite Durham Academy friends, Sheppy Vann. Sheppy has a house in Maine and since she moved to Nashville the best chance I have to see her is in Maine.

This morning we met for breakfast in Camden, which was a longer drive for her than it was for me, which was so nice of her. We had a great time a catching up. We did have a women come up to us to say thank you for the way we were talking about America. She said it was nice to hear people who believed what she believed.

We all need to keep talking loudly, as Sheppy and I obviously did, so people know they are not alone in thinking America is not going in the right direction and we have control over changing that. Let’s go back to sanity and kindness.

Then this afternoon Russ and I made the big drive to Portland to meet up with our friends Steve and Suzanne for dinner at Scales. It is the best place in Portland, which is saying so much since Portland is the most foodie city ever.

After a wonderful dinner we brought Suzanne back to Owl’s Head with us. She is staying for our final couple of days. I had to pack in one last friend at Owl’s Head and how could it not be Suzanne when we are this close to each other.

To make this work, I brought a bunch of things I have bought while in Maine for Steve to take home to his house. So I have room in the car to bring Suzanne home on our way back to North Carolina. When it comes to friends there is always a way to make it work.
