A Quick Day
Posted: July 25, 2026 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentRuss and I didn’t see each other much this week. He was in Washington, DC and then the very exciting Wichita, KS. I was teaching classes in Cary or having private zoom classes. It was a busy week.
Today I had a private lesson and then I had to pack for my 5:00 AM trip to the airport in the morning. I am off to the Bahamas for a summer session. It will be my fourth trip there since November. Eventually everyone on the island will know how to play mah Jongg.
Since I worked half the day Russ thought it might be nice to go out to dinner. I think he was craving ramen. So off to Dashi we went. Due to my early morning we went early so I can try and set my body clock to go to bed early.
I should have known there was no reason to go to dinner early since it was just the two of us. We drove downtown, parked in the deck across the street, were seated at dashi, ordered our usual, were served, ate, walked back up the stairs to the car parked on the fourth floor, and drove home all in less than a hour.

Downtown was quiet. No shows at DPAC. No Durham Bulls. So traffic was non-existent. Everyone is away. And so will I be, tomorrow. Thanks goodness Russ is home this week to take care of Shay and hold down the fort. I’m just glad I had 24 hours with him.
