Not a Hobby
Posted: April 4, 2026 Filed under: Uncategorized 1 CommentI was going through my Email, most of which just gets deleted without opening it, when I came upon something from Martha Stewart. Since I was sick and tired of writing mah Jongg content all day I opened the Martha Email for distraction.

The headline that caught my eye was “6 Beginner Friendly Hobbies to try this spring.” Now I have way too many Hobbies right now. I always have. But that does not mean I am not interested in something new and different I have never tried.
I was wary of the beginner moniker, but I scrolled on just the same. Baking, container gardening, blah, blah, blah. Nothing exciting. Then I came to the forth one.

Wax Sealing? What? You mean melting some wax from a candle like rod and pressing a metal seal into it? That is not a hobby. There was no art project to be made with seals. Just the suggestion of sealing envelopes. For the record the post office discourages wax seals on the outside of envelopes because the wax falls off and gunks up the sorting equipment.
So No, Martha, Wax sealing is at best a very short activity that can be done by the dumbest of humans. It is not a hobby. You can do better when creating a list for your readers.
Next up in Hobbies, washing you hair.
that is so funny that she classified that as a hobby
