Spain Advice

Planning travel is now a life’s work. Thanks to the overwhelming resource that is the internet you just can’t book a holiday without researching it to the nth degree. I am hoping to save myself some of that trouble by harnessing the power of the Internet to not read reviews from strangers, whose opinion I am not sure I should listen too, but to ask you, my friends what you know.
I am thinking of planning a trip to Barcelona and want to know if you have been there what you have to say. How long is a good time to relax and get in the flow? Did you take side trips from the city? If so where? Were they day trips or overnights?

What part of the city did you stay in? Where did you enjoy your best meals? What activities, sights, museums did you like?
Basically I want a Catalonian download. Save me time. Give me your knowledge.

Gracias in advance.

  1. Left you a book on front porch. We were in Barcelona 2014. I went on advice of lots of friends, including some who lived there. Happy to lunch and tell you what I know. We loved it!!! Best side trip was to Sitges.

Amy Daubert is either still in Barcelona or just returned. Mairin is there abroad and she went to visit.

We were there for 4 days after a week in the S of France. Took train. We loved staying at Casa Fuster. It was close to lots of the Gaudi houses and a great tapas bar called Bar Mutt, which I’ve seen listed in t and L in the years since. Many of the high, high end chain hotels are on the water, which is lovely, but I think it’s better to take a taxi to the beach (first time my kids visited a nude beach!) and all the cute seafood restaurants than to stay on the water and have to cab it every time you want to see the sites.
