Gorgeous Fall Boston Day

You would never know there is a nor’easter coming to Boston tomorrow. It was a perfectly gorgeous day today. We packed as much in as we could today because we moved our flight home up 10 hours.

We met Carter and Claire in Cambridge this morning and went on this two hour architectural boat tour. We had been on the Chicago version and loved it. This was a very cool boat with a great guide, but it was more about history and the history of modern, post-modern and contemporary architecture as well as some random American history thrown in. You must always have an American history lesson anytime you are in Boston.

It was a nice way to spend the morning together. After we drove over to Beacon Hill because Carter still has a beacon hill parking permit. We had lunch outside and enjoyed the sunshine.

Claire went home after lunch to let Norman out. Russ walked the length of Boston and Carter and I went shopping. It was great to have Carter as a stylist and bag carrier. We did some speed shopping on Charles st. Then walked through the Boston Public Gardens to Newbury st. which was packed. We hit two more stores and I said that was more shopping than I had done in a year and gave up.

I went back to the hotel and cleaned up and Carter went home. Russ was concerned about my suitcase capacity after the shopping, but I assured him I had calculated everything.

We walked to the restaurant In the seaport we were meeting the girls at. It was more of a bar inside so it was too loud for us. We decided to brave the cold and eat outside. I was the only one who was cold, but it was a great dinner.

Since it was still early the girls came back to the hotel with us for a drink. It was a big fun day. I cherish these times so much. This was the best birthday present. I think I will ask for this again next year.
