The Parties Begin

Tomorrow is the first Monday in December. I always know exactly what I am doing on the first Monday in December and have for the last 9 years. IT’S NEEDLEPOINT CHRISTMAS!

I was so honored to be asked to join in the needlepoint exchange group ten years ago by an extraordinary group of stitchers. I was relatively new to them, but they welcomes me into their stitching fold. Ever since then we have picked names and secretly stitched an ornament for one of the members of our group.

Needlepoint is one of those things that only another stitcher appreciates. Non-stitchers cannot fathom the work or cost that goes into it. To stitch for someone who knows and understands is a joy. To do it for anyone else is a heart break.

Needlepoint Christmas is the official start to all my celebrations. 12 friends will come for lunch tomorrow and we will ooh and ahh over each tiny work of art. I have spent the weekend preparing for their arrival, making food and setting the table. I even have a fun game activity for us to do after lunch.

From here the pace of parties picks up fast, other to go to and to throw. It feels like Christmas time pre-covid. For now I love that I always start the same way. Cheers to the season.
