Panic Starts to Set In
Posted: March 31, 2026 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentIt never fails that when I am the busiest I start to think of all my long term projects I am behind on and panic starts to set in. Panic might not be the right word for me, because I am a “get things done early” type of girl. But if I am not early, I panic.
I am way ahead of schedule for writing my new card class power point thanks to the National Mah Jongg league sending the cards out very early. I have already played 800 hands on the new card and kept all the data I need for creating my decision tree. Today I completed 16 slides for the class of the approximately 80 I need to have done by this time next week. I hope to have it all done by Friday, Saturday at the latest. So as far as my biggest commitment of the year, I am good.

So why today did it pop in my head that I have not done either of the two exchange needlepoint ornaments I have to make. I have not gotten my new Medicare card and therefore have not signed up for supplemental insurance which I must do before my birthday. I have not begun to look for shoes for Carter’s wedding. I need to check on a life insurance issue for Russ. I have to take my mother wedding dress shopping. I need a gift for a Passover Seder we are attending tomorrow night. I have to make my new BIG teaching trifold science fair board. I have to check in with every club I am teaching new card class at to make sure they have the right number of chairs and the needed AV equipment. I have thousands of copies to make at Kinkos. And the kitchen floor needs mopping.
I needed to write this all down so I have a list I can work down, otherwise my brain keeps adding more and more things to the panic list. I know none of this is life threatening. But I still need got play 200 more mah Jongg games to get to my 1,000 number. The good news is I tested myself to see if I know the card. Yesterday I wrote down, from memory, all the hands in order of the card and I got all of it correct except for two hands were flip flopped out of order, but the tiles in the lines were right.
At least I am mentally ready to teach this card. Now I just need all the materials to be ready and to finish my analysis for the decision tree. I promise not to go look for shoes until I get the power point done.
