Productive Day

I have been playing the 2026 mah Jongg card like crazy to create enough data to write my new card power point. I try and not read stuff online that other people publish about the new card because, 1. It usually is too basic for my analysis and 2. It sometimes is just wrong, or 3. It emphasizes something I find to be unimportant.

The hardest thing I have to create is my Charleston decision tree. This is my most important teaching tool and quite frankly the highlight of my class. I always have students who just want the decision tree and I tell them they have to take the class to get it. I spend hundreds of hours getting it right.

This year’s card is enough different that I have had a hell of a time working out my decision tree. I have determined a new starting box, which will be a great departure from the last two year’s decision tree. I still have a ways to go to get it all right.

I was at least happy enough with my progress today to stop working and make dinner. Russ was quite happy to see a home cooked meal, even if it was just lemon chicken, potatoes and carrots that only took me 30 minutes to whip up. I made twice as much as we needed so I won’t have to make dinner tomorrow night.

Although I have written an outline, I am yet to create one power point page or phot graph one hand. I still have seven full days. Thank goodness the cards came so early this year.
