Snow Globe Mah Jongg at High Hampton

I woke up to a winter wonderland as I opened the curtains to discover a few inches of fluffy white snow. In the early morning hour all was silent as the flakes swirled around the graceful fir trees, dancing their ways to the ground.

Day two of Mah Jongg is always a fun one, but it was made even more special as the snow came down all day around us, yet we were toasty warm with fires, and hot drinks and the glow of new friendships forming.

In my morning class I discovered that Charlie and Susan are good friends of my friends the Cutshaws. It is such a small world. So we sent off a message to De to let her know of our discovered connection. My beginners had some winning mah Jongg hands and I was especially happy that Dave made Mah Jongg, after he thought he would never get this game.
My beyond beginners toiled with opponents who had all the jokers, but learned so much. There was no better way to spend a snow day, than playing Mah Jongg and laughing.

Sara Foster and I had to go outside to get a photo in the snow. We had to make it fast. It was in the single digits. Back to the mah Jongg room and the warmth of the fire.

Tonight I had the great pleasure of having a special dinner with Paula and her daughter Layla who came back to see me after meeting me the first time in class in April. And we were joined by sister-in-laws, Sherrie and Lisa, and Andrea, my new friend from Blackberry Farm. So many great stories were told over our yummy dinner and desserts that were much too big.
I was showing Sherrie a photo of my mother, Russ and myself. She said, “Is she here?”
I said, “No.”
“Who is that man?”
“That’s my husband.”
“Is he here?”
“No.”
“But I’ve seen them.” Then she realized…
