Friends of My Friends
Posted: November 19, 2025 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentThere is nothing I like better than meeting friends of my friends. It’s like you can skip all the prerequisites and decide you like them already since they came recommended by someone else you already like.
Conversely when I meet a friend of someone I don’t care for, I can skip getting to know them. That doesn’t happen often since I like most people. But everyone once in a while someone I meet says, “Oh, you live in Durham, I’m good friends with (Insert the name of someone annoying) and I just say, “How nice for you.” Thank goodness I didn’t waste my time.
Today I made the drive down to DeBordieu. I have a lovely hostess, Pam who met me and helped me set up. We grabbed lunch and came back to her house to eat it. What a glorious day it is here.
Class started at 2:30 and we had a great group of women from Charlotte. I knew one person who had come to my classes before, but everyone else was new to me. Two are friends with my friend Ruth E. so I was very excited to meet them, as they came with a recommendation. They sat with me at dinner and were very entertaining. I feel like I have known them a very long time.

One friend, Ann Cramer has a book that is coming out tomorrow, Wishing Martha a Mary Christmas about the journey to find true joy at Christmas. I thought it was so nice of her to come to Mah Jongg camp right as she is about to have her first book published.
Kim, is the friend Ruth E. told me about, and as when I was greeting students as they came into class she said, “I’m Kim.” And before she could say more I said, “I’ve been waiting to meet you.” And Ruth E. was right. I liked her immensely.
