Classes Over, Time to Party

Another Mah Jongg week at Lyford Cay is almost over. The class portion completed today with a big group of favorites in attendance. I adore these people.

Ruth E. hosted her traditional cocktail party, which is always the highlight of Mah Jongg week, and probably the season. She generously does all the work for this party with a couple of nice friends bringing an nibble. People came and stayed a long time tonight because it is so much fun at Ruth E.’s.

By the time I get to the cocktail party after teaching all week I need to sit down. Thankfully many friends come and sit with me and I get a chance to learn all about their very interesting lives. I especially adore when they tell me how much Mah Jongg has changed their lives for the better.

Tomorrow we have the mah Jongg tournament. This year I have special tables for beginners so they can practice without feeling intimidated by the experts. I love to see the progress. They have until February to play and then I come back again and do it all again.
