Holley’s Birthday
Posted: November 3, 2025 Filed under: Uncategorized 1 CommentOne year ago tonight I was standing in the dark on Chelsea Circle, singing “when You’re 64,” with the hundreds of other fans of Holley Broughton. We had sparklers in her honor and we all were loving on her in her big electric wheel chair. She had been suffering for a couple years with ALS. She had withered down to practically nothing physically, but spiritually was still massive.
It turned out that was the last time I actually saw her. I would bring food to her sweet family, but Holley was not in any shape to entertain visitors. Miraculously she hung on another six months.
It feels like I was just with her and it feels like she has been gone forever. Holley had more friends than anyone I ever knew. She never new a stranger and she was kind and generous to everyone she ever met.

So today on what would have been her 65th birthday I am thinking of Holley. 64 was just too young, but she packed so much life into those 64 years. No one will ever forget how she made them feel. She was pure joy. I still hear her saying , “Hi Honey” in my heart..
