Tides all Tied Up
Posted: October 26, 2025 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentThe saddest day is the last day of Mah Jongg camp. So many new friendships were created. New games learned. New strategies explored. New passions discovered. And then it’s over and everyone has to return to the regular world.

Of course I love the game of Mah Jongg and teaching it, but what I love more is creating new communities and connections. This Mah Jongg camp I was blessed to get to know some of Suzanne’s New York friends better. Tracy, who is the owner of the Tides Inn is such a joy. She worked tirelessly to make sure everything about this weekend’s experience for all the guests exceeded expectations. It was wonderful to meet Tracy’s sister Kristin and meet her friend Beth who came from Colorado.

Susanne and Tracy who came from Florida enveloped my Walker’s friend LIz Brown Warters who showed up all by herself and surprised me. It made me so happy to see friends of mine become friends.

Even the dogs who came to Mah Jongg camp, Rocket and Gigi had the time of their lives as they were loved by all the participants.
I loved the whole NY contingency and am very happy that now Charlotte and Minali have entered the American Mah Jongg world.

Of course the big bonus for me was spending so much quality time with my dearest Suzanne and Gussy. Such love and support is unparalleled and they know how much I love them.

As the sadness of the ending was enveloping the guests, the excitement for the May class was helping alleviate the mood. I will be returning to the Tides Inn for Beginner and New Card plus Beyond Beginner classes May 5-7. The Inn is undergoing a major renovation and promises to be even more spectacular for the May classes. I can’t wait to return and spend an extra day or two there enjoying all the other fabulous activities they offer and seeing all my new friends I made this weekend. The best part is the Tides Inn is big enough to welcome lots more friends who want to join me.
