Not Enough Sleep

It never fails that when I have a big day I don’t sleep before it. I woke up this morning at 3:30 and could not go back to sleep. I had to drive to Irvington, VA. My plan was to leave at 10:00 AM, but since I was up and ready so early I just went ahead and left.

It’s a good three and a half hour drive. I was worried about staying awake so I called Suzanne who was also driving and we talked for a good two hours of our trip. That made it go by so much faster.

I arrived to a perfect sunny day on the river. The Tides Inn is just perfect. There were beautiful flowers and chocolate covered strawberries in my room along with a note from Tracy, my host, welcoming me to Mah Jongg weekend with me as teacher.

I was able to set up my class room for classes that start tomorrow. I ran into Susanne and Tracy from Florida who had just arrived. We sat outside and enjoyed the view and caught up.

Then my Suzanne and Gussy arrived. We went to their room before dinner with a huge gang from NY. By the time I ate my salad I was beginning to hit the 3AM wall. I had to say my good nights and come to bed.

56 students expect me to be on my top game tomorrow. I just need to sleep through the night.
