Lost Another Pointer

Any one who has taken a class from me knows about my stick. A long wooden dowel I use as a pointer. I love that wooden dowel. The first one I had cost .49¢. I must have had it for at least five years.

Then something happened to it. It just up and disappeared. I don’t think a student took it. I always promised students I wouldn’t hit them with the stick. I had a bad experience with a ballet teacher, Madame Kruger who used to hit me on the back of the knees with a yard stick when I was eight years old. One day I grabbed it out of her hands mid swing and hit her on the legs. I didn’t have to go back to ballet after that.

When the .49¢ stick disappeared I went back to the hardware store and had topay $3.99 for the same size stick. So sad. I had that one until this summer and now it has vanished.

The $3.99 version back in February

During the $3.99 era I also had a retractable pointer that I used for airplane travel required classes. It was nice, but not as long and did not act as a cane like my wooden one did.

I lost my first retractable one this year too. I can’t figure out what happens to these things. So I ordered a new replacement and took it with me to Houston. Well I’ve gone off and left it there. That pointer only lasted one class. I think it only cost $5.89.

It not the money, but the frustration on losing my pointers. I got home tonight about 7:15 and have to turn around and leave at 7:00 in the morning for a class this weekend. I need my pointer and I won’t have time to replace it before class. I guess I’ll use a paint paddle until I can stop at a store and get a dowel. I am going to have to order an new retractable one too before I fly off to the Bahamas. Oh, isn’t it ridiculous?
