The World’s Best Job
Posted: October 8, 2025 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentI shouldn’t say this because I don’t need more competition, but being a mah Jongg teacher is the world’s best job.
This week I am in Tallahassee, Florida thanks to the invitation of Susanne. I met Susanne and her great friend Brandy at my High Hampton’s class in April. Susanne is mah Jongg crazy and thought her friends at home would enjoy my beyond beginner class. It is my favorite class to teach because it is helping people learn how to think, not just learn rules.

Susanne invited me and Brandy’s dear Mom Debbie volunteered her guest house. So I quickly made friends with Debbie and have the absolute best time with these ladies.
Today 24 friends showed up at Susanne’s beautiful house and we had a full day of class. We took a break for a yummy lunch, not that we needed to after the giant continental breakfast spread that was out during the morning part of class. The one thing I will say is no one is going hungry at class.
So after six hours the official class was over, but anyone who could stay did for more mah jongg playing. Debbie did a great job of beating me twice. We changed tables and played some more. Finally it got down to Susanne, and her best friend from Vero Tracy and me playing, just one more game. Everyone had a chance to beat the teacher!
We were late to dinner with Brandy and Debbie because of just one more game. It was a very fun dinner, but finally by 8:30 we hit the wall. We had to go home to rest because we are doing it again tomorrow morning. Brandy texted everyone to say get to class early. I have a flight at 1:49 and we need to get in as much learning as possible.

Why is this the best job? You just get to make new friends every week and play a game.
