Kindness and Good Manners
Posted: October 3, 2025 Filed under: Uncategorized 1 CommentIt’s nice to know that in these times some manners still remain. Russ and I hosted 36 mostly new or newish members of our church for a dinner at our house Sunday. As very old members of the church we did not know most of these people well. They ranged in age from “on walkers” to “having little ones just learning how to walk.”
Not all of them have always been Presbyterians as they come to our church from many different back grounds. But I will say they all have very good manners as is no surprise for Presbyterians. A good number brought us a hostess gift. This was totally unnecessary, but very polite.

Then in the last two days we have received a whole bunch of hand written thank you notes in the mail. To me this is a big deal as I am often very late on mailing someone a thank you note. First you have to write it and then the hard part, you have to find a stamp or these days, stamps, that equal the going rate. If you know what the going rate is.
The country may be coming apart at the seams, but I am ever thankful for the sanctuary of our little church and the family it creates. We are a very progressive group. I find it awful what Christian Nationals have co-opted religion and work against what Jesus actually stood for.
I am not letting those kind of people change what I follow according to the motto of our little Presbyterian Church. Micah 6:8 “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and walk humbly with your God.” And to apparently to write thank you notes.
yes, kindness remains
