Happy Birthday Smartie

Seventeen years ago today Russ bought his little Smart Convertible. A few years before we were at the Paris Car show and we were able to test drive one because they wanted Americans to buy them. Russ loved it. Amazingly his 6’5” frame fit perfectly in the tiny car and my oh so large body did too, thanks to the seats being slightly offset from each other.

Russ waited patiently for the Smart to eventually come to America and bought the first one in the state of North Carolina. The Mercedes dealer in Cary sold the Smarts. Why I will never know, but we still take it there to be serviced.

Carter loved the Smart and was very excited to see it the day we went to pick it up. Russ drives it still and I am sure keep it as long as it runs. So Happy Birthday to our little Smart car. We certainly have gotten our money’s worth out of it.
