Some Memories Feel Like Yesterday

Seventeen years ago today four mothers surprised four daughters with an instant trip to NYC. We didn’t tell our girls, ages 8 & 9 in advance. We woke them up and flew them to NYC for a fun filled long weekend. They even got to miss a day of school.

On this weekend, we visited FAO Schwartz, went to see the Mary Poppins musical, went to the Metropolitan museum of art and the American Girl doll store. We ate in china town, at French restaurants, stopped at many Starbucks and rode busses, subways and walked many blocks out of our way.

I think I can relive the whole weekend in my brain. It was such a memorable trip. So when this photo popped up on my iPad as the memory of the day I felt like I was right there, in front of Pastis in the freezing cold, laughing at the girls having a ball.

This memory was the perfect way to end the holiday weekend, since Carter flew home to Boston yesterday.
