Christmas is Coming

T’was the night before December first and all through the house, every surface is glittery, except for my spouse.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, but fresh greenery is needed with no time to spare.

My child was my helper, to move boxes and bags, along with her father whose spirit just lags.

But I put out every Santa and standing tall cracker, which gave him a smile which I should have shellacered.

The tree is the hardest thing to move in, Carter suggested we should hire some men.

But before you could say it, it stood tall as could be. The greenest fir ever, our little ‘ole tree.

I went right to work hanging snowmen and stars, it took more time than going to mars.

The angels they sparkled, the balls how they glowed, getting Christmas up now so I don’t call a code.

The villages rose from the side board and tables, the glass ones, the houses and gingerbread maple.

The needlepoint garland was chock full of stitching, awaiting the first party on Monday there’s no time for bitching.

The wreaths and the ribbons, are hung here and there, it’s time to start celebrating the month that I share.

So December will come with the light of our savior, I will feed all my friends all the best flavors.

Hey Dana: I shared this issue of your blog with my daughter Jennifer, who you met many years ago. Her comment was ‘Dana’s house looks like a very nice Christmas Pop-Up shop’.
