The Stolen Holiday Week

In a perfect world Thanksgiving would be this week. Sadly this year Thanksgiving is almost as late as it can be. The problem with this late Thanksgiving is it gives us one less week between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The loss of that week is tough on me.

I still have as many events in December as ever, but I don’t have that extra week to decorate, cook, shop and wrap. I know that technically I still have the same number of weeks in the year, but physiologically the Christmas season is from the day after Thanksgiving to December 25.

I am trying my hardest to get ahead of the game. I spent all weekend painting ornaments. I am working on my party menus. My wrapping paper has arrived and the gifts are coming in. That does not mean I have figured out what I am getting everyone, let alone the gifts I need for parties or hostesses.

Next year is only going to be one day better. I am going to have to start planning for next year now as the pressure of this short season can not be forgotten.
