A Birthday Lunch, A Party and Some Time at Needlepoint
Posted: May 10, 2024 Filed under: Uncategorized 2 CommentsI purposely try and not work on Fridays. This way I can do all the fun things I want to do and have no guilt. Today was a perfect example of a play Friday.
I slept late, like 7:30, I went to lunch with my friend Shelayne for my birthday. She even beat me there. It is hard to find a time when she and I are both free at the same time, especially since she has just had her eleventh grand child and she is younger than me! I so appreciate her always celebrating my birthday with me.

From there I went to needlepoint. I finally finished my exchange ornaments and had to pick up some thread for a wedding gift I am stitching. Since I am creating this gift from scratch I have to test different colors and stitches to make sure it is all perfect. I often have an idea in my minds eye and then stumble upon another way to get there. It’s one of my favorite creative outlets.
Lots of friends were at needlepoint today so I stayed a while and visited, even though I could just stitch as I was still in the exploratory stage. Nonetheless it is always good to be with needlepoint Nancy and the gang.
Tonight Russ and I had a 70’s theme party to go to. We didn’t try to hard to dress for the theme. Russ didn’t complain too much about having a party to go to. It helped that the Beischers sat next to Russ.
We have officially crossed into the old group as everyone at our table kept asking each other if we knew the names of the young people. We didn’t. It didn’t matter. I thought it was just impressive we were at a party on Friday night.
That’s enough of parties for us for the weekend. It’s graduation weekend as well as Mother’s Day. There will be no leaving the house for us. Well, we can work in the yard and sit on the terrace, but as far as venturing out, it is best not to.
I look forward to the day they don’t put all the graduations on the same weekend. It’s kind of like getting peace in the Middle East. No one wants to move, but everyone would be happier if all the parents for all the schools weren’t coming to the same area for the same weekend. Glad to get to stay home.
🎼 Happy Birthday to you, Dana! 🎂🍾🌞🌞🌞
