Fun Saturday Start to a Great Visit

I have been waiting all winter for Carter and Claire to come for a visit. We lucked into this beautiful weekend for it to happen. Before they landed Russ and I got a visit from our friends Iain and Angela bearing gifts of plants and eggs. Iain had grown too many plants for his garden from the seeds he started in January. We thankfully will get the opportunity to try and raise them into productive plants. I hope not to let them down.

After Iain and Angela left we ran to the airport to pick up the girls. We have a jammed packed weekend we have had planned for months. The big activity today was to go to the Durham Bulls with my mother. We had talked about it ages ago. This morning I texted her that we would pick her up at 5:45.

I didn’t hear from her all day. I texted again and had Carter Text her and call her. No response. We drove up to Croasdaile and her car was there. Russ went In to her apartment. Her phone was there with all our messages, but she was no where to be found. He went to the dining room and found her with a group of ladies and a glass a of wine. She didn’t bother to introduce him to her friends and said she certainly couldn’t come to the game. I think she is having a good time living there.

Off to the game we went without her. It was Star Wars night, which is fun, but would have been better if the bulls had played better. In the sixth inning something happened I have never seen before. The umpire gathered all the officials on the field for some conference in the middle of the inning, in the middle of one Durham Batter’s up at plate. Then the Scranton manager came out and they all talked to the pitcher. The play continued with no explanation and as soon as Scranton was off the field the Umpire took the pitcher aside for a long talking to. As there is no commentary at the live game we had no idea what the whole thing was about.

It seems like there are a few things today we need to get straightened out. Tomorrow is another big day with Carter and Claire here. Can’t wait. We’ll see if there will be a Grandmother sighting.
