Say Goodbye to 2023

2023 felt like a more normal year than we have had in the near past. At this point in life I am happy for normal. I feel lucky to have my family doing well, Shay still ruling the roost, my old friends hanging on and all my new friends and students wanting to learn from me.

There are plenty of things in the bigger world that are troubling, but in my smaller world not too bad. I am concerned for the whole world and the I pray everyday for people to come to their senses, but the only thing I can control is how I act.

So farewell ‘23. I make no predictions for ‘24 because I don’t want to jinx anything and there are some big things to bet on. I hope for kindness, justice and fairness and for the mah jongg wave to continue.

Have a peaceful New Year’s Eve. Stay safe and get a good night’s sleep. I think we need to be well rested for 2024.
