Half Undecorated

Carter has been so productive while she was home. She cleaned out her whole closet and the closet in the sweat shop creating four giant bags for donations and two bags of trash. As she was in such a helpful and friendly mood I took advantage of her and got her to help get the Christmas boxes down.

Taking Christmas down is not half as fun as putting it up, but it also takes half the time, if you don’t count the cleaning that you have to follow up with. I got almost all the ornaments off the tree, in the thousands, and Carter stepped in to go up the ladder the last three trips.

After dinner she suggested she and Russ go ahead and take everything associated with the tree and the platform and get it down the stairs put away. Oh my goodness, this was the best gift I was given this year.

I still have the dining room and half the living room to undecorate, but that will take no time tomorrow and it will all be done. The sparkle and lights will give way to clean and sparse like a winter day after a fresh snow.

I am thinking of leaving some decor in the attic and changing things up a bit. Looking for the opposite of holiday. Perhaps it is the sadness of Carter leaving.
