A Little Brown Puppy Goes to Maine and Visits an Historic Town

It’s Sunday so my Mommy and Daddy wanted me to go on a walk and look at things with them. These days I determine how long a walk I am going to take, or not. Sometimes my Daddy gets me outside and I only go a quarter of a mile, some days 3 miles. No one ever knows what I am going to do.

Today I was happy to go walk in a new old town called Thomaston. It is not far from our house and we have only driven through it about a hundred times, but never walked. Being Sunday most everything was closed, except the churches. We still walked past every business and looked in all the windows.

The town has a lot of historical markers and my Mommy and Daddy wanted to stop and read all of them. Most of the 200 historical houses are white or were white originally since it is a town “of White Houses.”

The Main Street has many beautiful houses, but the traffic is constant. There was a nice section that has a little park and a statue to the soldiers and sailors that fought in the civil war. The inscription on one side, “one flag, one country” could apply to today.

The other historical street we walked down was Knox Street. It was even prettier and had some non-white houses and many with gorgeous gardens. Mommy would not let me linger near any of those gardens in case I wanted to leave a calling card. Daddy always has bags, but Mommy does not like me to change the Ph of the lawns on nice yards.

I like towns with beautiful houses because they are good places for me to walk, even if they have dogs that bark at me. I don’t pay them any attention.
