A Little Brown Puppy Goes to Maine

What a good girl Shay was in the car for two whole days. She was very despondent when her parents were packing up in fear she was being left behind. But when her mommy asked, “Do you want to go in the car?” She bounded to the door and sat at attention as her daddy put on her car harness.

Shay jumped in the back seat and was delighted to find, not one, but two Princess beds. She gladly let Mommy attach her seat belt to her harness and she stood at the ready for the adventure to begin. For the first hour on the first day of the very long drive she scratched at her Daddy’s shoulder begging to be allowed to ride on his lap. Mommy had already had this discussion with Daddy that he was not to let her ride on his lap for two days because that meant that Mommy would have to drive the whole way.

Eventually Shay settled down and looked out the window for eleven states. Only once yesterday in Pennsylvania did she she another dog with his head out his window did she get a little excited. Thankfully she did not ask to have her window open.

Yesterday she spent the night at her Daddy’s childhood home. That meant she slept in his child hood tiny bed taking up a majority of the space. Her Daddy let her do that. Her mommy had her own tiny bed.

Today she jumped right in the car bright and early. “ How much longer until we get to Maine?” It was a very long day. Mommy ended up driving the whole day because Daddy had a lot of work calls. The traffic was very bad, but we missed most of the horrible weather. Finally at 6:00 PM we arrived at our little Owl’s Head House. Shay ran right to the front door and said, “I’m so glad to be back.”

She carried her blue baby up to bed. “I’m ready for vacation. When are we going to walk the breakwater?” Tomorrow, sweet girl, tomorrow.
